Medicare has officially released the updated costs for 2026, and while many of the changes were expected, we now have the final confirmed numbers for Medicare Part A and Part B premiums, deductibles, and IRMAA guidelines. These updates are important for anyone enrolled in Medicare or preparing to enroll, so here’s a clear breakdown of what’s changing and what it means for you.
Medicare Part A Costs for 2026
Most people receive Medicare Part A premium-free, but those who haven’t earned enough work credits must pay a monthly premium. Both premium tiers and the deductible will increase in 2026.
Part A Premiums (2026)
$311 per month for individuals with 30–39 work credits(up from $285 in 2025)
$565 per month for individuals with 0–29 work credits(up from $518 in 2025)
Part A Deductible (2026)
$1,736 per benefit period(up from $1,676 in 2025)
This deductible covers hospital stays under Part A before Medicare begins paying its share.
Medicare Part B Costs for 2026
Part B saw increases in both the monthly premium and the deductible.
Part B Premium (2026)
$202.90 per month(up from $185 in 2025)
Part B Deductible (2026)
$283(up from $257 in 2025)
Once the Part B deductible is met, Medicare generally pays 80% of approved medical services, including doctor visits, outpatient care, and durable medical equipment.
IRMAA Updates for 2026
For those with higher incomes, the Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA) for both Part B and Part D has also been updated for 2026. These adjustments determine whether you’ll pay higher premiums based on your modified adjusted gross income.
The 2026 IRMAA grids are included in the Medicare Basics Info sheets provided, and they outline income brackets and additional monthly surcharges.
